Considering creating an ebay listing but I thought I'd post here first.
Tires are OK for summer around here, but I wouldn't use them as a winter tire. They are nearing the end of their life.
I'm looking to sell these wheels in an effort to fund the restoration of another set I wheels I have.
I know the pictures are bad, but it's all I have right now as the wheels are actually in the shop to assure the tires are properly balanced, either moving a tire from a w201 wheel to a w126 wheel I had to purchase to complete the set... or purchasing a tire for that wheel... or purchasing two tires to make the set a complete match.
Currently the setup includes:
- two (2) w126 wheels (GREAT chrome) with Firestone Affinity 185/65/15s with enough tread for summer driving. Tires are definitely a little dry though.
- one (1) w126 wheel (GREAT chrome) with a Futura 185/65/15 tire that's close to the end of it's life, but the tire is not dry.
- one (1) w126 wheel (FAIR chrome) with NO tire on it (when I brought it to the shop yesterday) EDIT on 6/1/2011: Tire from w201 wheel below is now on this wheel for a set of four w126 wheels.
EDIT on 6/1/2011: w201 wheel is no longer included - being sold separately on ebay:
- one (1) w201 wheel (GREAT chrome) with a Futura 185/65/15 tire that's close to the end of it's life, but the tire is not dry.
END EDITs on 6/1/2011
I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the tires, but I may determine it when the shop tells me what work is needed to make the set a perfect driving set of wheels.
The w201 wheel with its current tire might make a perfect spare. I was able to drive with it on my car, but it rubbed only on very sharp turns. The offset on that wheel is 44 (unlike all the others that are 21.5). As you can see, I bought a wheel to replace the w201 wheel, but haven't mounted a tire on it yet. Unfortunately the chrome on that fourth w126 wheel is not as nice as the other 3-4 wheels, all of which have perfect chrome, even on the back sides.
I'll update this thread when i get the wheels back from the shop, and post more pictures.
Today: $450 takes the set. You pay for actual shipping charges and expenses.
Today: I'm also willing to work with you in case you want something special done with the tires. (i.e. put 205's on two of them, etc.) My shop is doing the work at cost, as I get the friends and family discount there.
ALSO included: 15 extended head chrome lugs in perfect condition. Sorry 15 was all I got when i bought the wheels. (I should have noticed that one wheel was different when I got a mismatched set of lugs, but I was picking up the lugs after I'd already handed over all my money and loaded the wheels in my truck.)
My dream car is a classic sporty five speed (stick+overdrive) convertible that seats five. If, you want 70's-80's Mercedes tuner wheels, let me know.
