W210 E430, 2001 estate - for sale in London, UK
dearly loved but I just upgraded my other big car and the job descriptions now overlap too much, so the 430 has to find a new carer! 2001, 118k miles, silver over black leather Elegance model. 7 seater, with cargo net and shutter in place. COMAND *and* Linguatronic, with Nokia 6110 phone cradle and I believe I have a working 6110 to go in there. Glass sunroof; refurbished AvantGarde 5-slot alloys with a full set of Continental tyres. Recent B service with brakes done including disks; water-pump and radiator replaced in 2009, Transmission overhaul & new Torque Converter back in 2007 when I bought the car (I bought it with the transmission dead... it was a good deal!). Has a very upper-class Brink towball which I haven't ever used, but may go some way to explain why the Torque Converter was a bit shagged...
I was intending to keep this car basically forever. I've driven it to Switzerland, Italy, Austria, France, Ireland and Holland and it has never given me any issues: Only because a good deal came up that lets me combine the job it does for me, with the job of my CL500 coupe, while doing a neat upgrade, am I now thinking of selling.
I want 5 grand for it.
Do not buy this car to commute in, sit in traffic or go on the school run. It is completely incredible at dismissing long trips: ignore what some people say about the V8 e-classes - this is a very relaxed drive, though it will happy rev right round to 6750rpm when you give it the beans! Would ideally suit someone who has to tow a sizeable piece of kit a very long way: a glider pilot, for example, or a classic car restorer.
On a long run I get 26-28mpg, occasionally into the 30's. Worst ever in Central London traffic was 11mpg.
Oh, and some little b*st*rd has mangled the rear window washer jet so it shoots out directly backwards!
Drop me a message here if you are genuinely interested. The car is located right by Moorgate tube station in the City of London; viewing is possible but I will need to see proof of insurance for test drives, since we are inside the Ring of Plastic and the camera coverage here is a bit daunting!
London, right in the middle
