WTB: 1994-1995 E420 in Washington State

Hello--

I am looking for a 94-95 E420 (or a really nice 400E, but I like the updated 124s) Benz, I will consider any cars out there but I would rather find a nice lower mileage, good running car and I am willing to pay appropriately for such a car. I'm looking to find one in Washington State for now, one that hasn't lived on the East Coast or Midwest (rust).

Please let me know if you have one, or know of one.

Thanks

Thanks. I saw that one earlier today and for me it's just a matter of getting down out of state to buy one, time is short for me these days but maybe in a month or so I will have some more free time. I was hoping to buy one from an enthusiast here becuase we tend to take better care of our machines than the average joe, but a craigslist find is definitely possible. I love my diesels and just want to add a nice gas Benz to the stable.

I know what you mean, I've been looking around WA for a similar "well owned" w124 E320 (or 300E) for a while now, since about October, without much luck... It seems most of these cars have been forgotten, had maintenance deferred, etc etc.. so it's key to finding a good one (a good one NOT owned by someone who thinks it's worth $10k just because it has low miles and new tires). I would like to get a six-cylinder car to start with and maybe in a few years upgrade to a E420 or E500 but if the right V8 came along I would have no problems driving that instead

A 500E is definitely one of my dream cars, when I get more parking space I am seriously going to be searching for one as a toy that I can take out on nice days only.

As far as your E320 search goes, I have been looking a little for those too. I definitely wouldn't pass up a very nice one at a great price, but my first choice is the E420. I'll keep you posted if I come across a very nice E320/300E in the area you may be interested in.

The key to finding the right one is patience. I was on the same search 9 months ago and was tempted to buy one out of state many times. In the end I found one right here in Houston which was driven by an elderly lady, impeccably maintained (by my own mechanic no less), did not have ASR, and had covered only 75k miles. They had already replaced the wiring harnesses, evaporator, rebuilt the transmission, rebuilt the front end, replaced the cam oilers, resealed the power steering pump, and lots of smaller items before I bought the car.

Wait for the right one; you'll be glad you did. Buy the best condition example you can. The joy of driving a low mileage well maintained car is exponentially greater than that of a neglected one.

Thannk you, that is encouraging even though the market it Seattle is kind of thin at the moment. I am in no real rush to buy one, but I do have the cash ready in my safe in the event one pops up. I've been enjoying my diesels for years and will continue to do so, and I know exactly what you mean by the joy of a well-maintained lower mile car; it really does show through in the driving experience. One of my first diesel cars I bought was an immaculate 1985 300D with 140k, garage-kept and maintained religiously at Phil Smart Mercedes, great car and hard to beat the way it drives. I am in the process of rescuing an SD now that has low mileage and is in good condition overall, but has been neglected for a few years.

Yarrow is a very nice area, as is Kirkland. I see you have a diesel, it may be hard to come by a v8 124 but Seattle is a great place for diesels.
