I am selling my black 1989 W124 Mercedes 260E Auto for spares or repair. It was a recent MOT failure and I haven't got the money to get it fixed.
The points it failed the MOT on were:
1 - Anti-lock braking system warning lamp indicates an ABS fault
2 - Centre exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gase
3 - N/S headlamp aimed so that it dazzles other road users???
4 - O/S headlamp aimed so that it dazzles other road users???
5 - Offside rear tyre has ply or cord exposed
6 - N/S rear brake hose twisted
Advisories were :
1 - N/S front seat belt damaged but webbing not significantly weakened - same with O/S front seat belt
2 - Parking brake has only just met the required park brake efficiency. Requires adjustment or repair.
3 - Noisy front o/s door strap
To correct all these faults, you're looking at around £400-500 I'd estimate. It is currently a non-runner, I had not used it since November and I tried to start it yesterday, and it wasn't having any of it.
I would say that this car is best suited as a spares car for a keen W124 owner. I have 8 or so pictures of the car, which is in average condition for it's age. The grey leather interior is in good condition though.
The car has 103,000 miles on it, engine replaced at 58k by the previous owner. FSH with the car and all old MOT's etc. When it runs, it is lovely and pure class. It just needs someone with either the know how and/or patience to bring this land yacht back to it's former glory! When it is running, it is bloody quick, which led me to label it, "The Black Bullet".
If you're interested, please make me an offer. I'd rather give the car to an enthusiast rather than those "we buy any car" muppets.
