Yeah, seriously. It's not mine, but it's for sale in Houston and I have seen it. It was bought by the seller's mother, she died two years ago, he's held onto it since then but never drives it far (he owns a construction company). It's time to go, he says.
Exterior - always garaged, excellent paint but needs a light compounding to remove minor scratches from Bubbles car wash. Hood sits a little high up front and paint is flaking on front bumper. I take this as an indication that the nose got tagged somewhere along the way. The bolts that hold the hood and front fenders look factory original, so I think the front bumper was repainted at some point - she probably bumped something more than crashed into it. More investigation would be necessary. Tires good. Paint shiny as hell. Some gold accents rather than the chrome ones - still tasteful, actually.
Interior - unbelievable. Perfect. Stunning. Smells new. Looks new. Wow.
Mechanical - it was flooding the day I went to see it (he keeps it in his AC'd warehouse), but it started wonderfully and idled perfectly. Oil pressure excellent. No reason to think mechanical has any issues with its low miles. Probably original wiring harness. No seepage at head gasket; certainly no leaks. Underside of car looks brand new. AC works. All lights work, but headlight switch came off in my hand; no biggie.
Seller's problem is that the car means something to him; he only wants a Mercedes guy who'll take great care of it to buy it. Like me. Problem is, my garage is full and my w126 already fills the role of "low mileage garage queen". I'm helping him sell it - no fees for me, just want to find a GREAT buyer for it.
He wants $10,800 for it, so flipping it isn't much of an option for you. Buy the car only if you really would like to have a great timewarp w124 that you plan on keeping in a garage and taking good care of it. Black interior is just beautiful; the greatest thing about the car is the fantastic unmarred black interior.
PM or email me to discuss. I took a few iphone photos - will get those up tonight.
