What a horrific sight and so soon on the heels of another tragic event. I am so glad you are okay.

I am going to finish my Recaro's just like that. With the light grey leather in the center and black on the edges.

I don't need any parts and I'm just glad you are okay. The car is replaceable, you are not.

Glad you're okay.

I'm searching for a couple of small parts, i.e. R & L vent lever knobs (see attached photo) for my '86 560SL. I suspect they should be the same parts. If available and for sale, please provide pricing.

Thanks.1985 500SEC AMG WIDE BODY (00)-vent-lever-knob.jpg

I hope my suggestion to wheel the car out into better light for pictures didn't contribute to this fate!!

Wow, glad you are alright... jeez.

Also, the rest of you... note my signature. This has happened to me before, luckily I was on a freeway with plenty of room to spare and figure out how to stop it.

For those of you that think I may have been able to turn the key off in time, it was such a short shot to the corner (400ft), I had only time to reach for the shift lever or the key (key may have locked the steering as well). The shift lever was much easier to throw forward and even by the time I did that it was already too late. The first reaction was to push the brakes, throw the lever and then give it some steering correction while coming up to the 90deg corner (a true 90deg L shaped corner).

My earlier post also made it sound like I just removed the air cleaner, but I did actually loosen, lube and made sure there was nothing obstructing it (obviously I missed something).

I have been running this accident over and over in my head, but any way I look at it I am just glad I made it out alive.

The car is now open for parts or as a whole package.

Wow, I'm glad you were not hurt.

Looks like the car will be going to one of 2 great homes as a whole vehicle. I will keep everyone up to date if there are any changes.

Thank you all for your amazing comments.
