Spring Compressor wanted Rent? Buy? In Sask. Canada

I am looking to replace both rear springs on my 94 S500 , and need the spring compressor. Anyone have one in Saskatchewan I could rent , steal , borrow? Thanks. Johnny in Weyburn Sk. Canada

Spring Compressor

You don't need a spring compressor to remove the rear springs. Just use a piece of chain with a couple inches of slop in the chain. I use a bolt and nut to connect as much chain as is needed to capture 4 or 5 of the spring coils. I unbolt one side of the sway bar and undo the shocks... Most of the time I did not need the chain. I undid everything and the shocks fell out.. Not so on the front. I never use spring compressors and I have done all the MB models from the 1960's to the 1990's. Good luck Jim

That sounds scary to me , (a first time and back yard mech) , but maybe the spring compressors that hook on outside would work? Mercedes says to use "internal" spring compressor on rear? They are very costly to buy.
I will pass this on to the fellow helping me remove the springs. He has some experience in this.
I also have a "thump" or "E er" sound in the rear when I hit even small bumps , so I really need to look at those shocks too. BUT they are $800 each? WOW..Thats insane.
Thanks for the help Jim. I really do appreciate it. Johnny
