Has anyone seen the W123 wagon on Autotraxder.com? Asking $18-k?
An $18k ad in Autorader is not relevant. Having sold probably 4 cars through Autotrader over the last 10 years I have learned that if you want your car to sell in Autotrader you need to be priced bottom 10% for like-for-like cars. In otherwords, 90% of the cars in Autotrader don't sell and 10% do sell and you need to be in that 10%. Your price doesn't reflect that sort of motivation.
Get a comprehensive photoalbum together. If the 4-matic badges are attached with adhesive REMOVE THEM as I think they will be the biggest detractors, whatever the thing is next to the 4-matic badge, if it's attached with adhesive, remove it, I guess leave the tint and the wheels and the chrome wheel trim (unless it detaches non-destructively) and emphasize the good condition of interior and exterior. The typical buyer/owner of a 300TD either wants to emphasize the stock nature of the car or wants to Euro-ize it. They do NOT want to pimp the car. The gobs of nice chrome will be an immediate turn-off to most of your prospective buyers. If you have gobs of history on the car (receipts, etc), put them in a pile and include photos of those.
Saying that you are open to offers when you list it a $8500 is off-putting. Get realistic about your price. This will sell between $4000 and $7000 maximum, with my guess being closer to $5000. When you get realistic about your price then add 10% to that and advertise it and don't budge.
This car would look really nice without the added crap. Please consider removing the badges, wind thing on the sunroof, chrome fender trim and then you will have a stock-looking wagon with tint and different wheels. It won't make an enthusiast want to puke. The tent will make some people (me) want to puke also, but you are in Las Vegas, which think is a demographic that says tint is good.
my 2 cents...
ps - happily removed the tint from my 85 wagon just last month and SOOOO happy with the results...
