Becker Kick Panel Speakers
These must be different (Becker Kick Panel Speakers) than the ones I am thinking of. I have seen some (for the W108) that are about twice as high and the entire speaker fits inside the enclosure so that the only holes that need to be drilled are the 4 for the mounting screws. Thanks for the fast response.
Here are three pics of the two different speakers that I think you could mean. The 4" square speaker is used on the kickpanel of a 113 that has stereo rather than mono radio. It is also used in 114/115 cars w/ stereo. The depth of the grill is about 1 inch and the speaker extends another inch beyond that. The second speaker show is found on the hat shelf of (I think) 108 sedans that have a 4 speaker stereo, possible also on the kick panel of 108 sedans. It is about 6 1/2 x 4 and both the speaker and the grill are slightly deeper, maybe 2 3/4 inches total, half grill, half past the grill. Hope this helps.
