Bumping is not allowed.

KBB says Excellent retail $7800, private party $6100.

Wow, I didn't realize those touches would double the value of my car. I'm off to Walmart now!

At that price a person can buy a 2003-2005 C class with the same miles, without the personalized cosmetic touches that make your buying pool even smaller.

Its always funny to see people who expect a ROI on wheels and a stereo.

Used car valuation is subjective. KBB base its estimates on (stock vehicle) model year, with some consideration for mileage, condition and options. Owners add-ons or modifications doesn't really add value to the vehicle. So, KBB's estimate should be used only as general guide.

In the final analysis the value of the OP's car is his asking price, if someone is willing to pay for that price.

It looks like the car is worth more than the asking price because of its excellent condition, low mileage, and upgrades. But, I won't buy it at that price because there are millions of used car out there that maybe better and maybe cheaper.

I think TylerH860 is just pointing out why there is not much interest.

Good luck with the sale!

Keep in mind KBB, NADA and the other sources out there are a GUIDE. I love when people list an add (typically e-bay) and proundly reinforce their priceas a great deal because KBB or NADA says what they are asking is a deal. Typically no dealer pays book, they see the published value and go down from there depending on market vale. Banks and Insurance companies typically use "book value" without modificaation. Market value (what someone is willing to pay you) is the only real number.

I work in the car business, and know full well they are just guides. Guides that just about every individual uses before purchasing a car, along with banks to justify loans. Dealers typically pay well below these estimates for cars, not well above, and most consumers expect to pay below as well.

That's why expecting to get almost double the guide book price is laughable. The only way he will get someone to buy it at 13k is if they're uninformed, and typically uninformed people don't have $13,000 lying around to pay cash. They'd have to finance the car, and the bank wouldn't touch it because of the guides.

The informed won't touch it because there's hundreds of newer C-classes to choose from with less miles at that price or less.

Here's 60 I came up with in a quick search of 2003-2005 C-classes with less than 50,000 miles. Some are so cheap, you can add all the things done to this car and still come out for less.

Saying the selling price is what someone is willing to pay is absolutely correct, but the chances of him actually finding someone willing AND able to pay that price is EXTREMELY unlikely.
