I thought the 500E was a MB/Porsche product. This car wears AMG badge, plaque, etc. So I ask, is it punched out to 6.0 and hence the AMG markings?

Cheers

We don't need to stink'n Badges...lol

Hey, no Idea really, but I'd hazard a guess that 8 out ot ten cars with an AMG badge on them is bogus..

Just a stick-on plate, readily available for cheap...

Real AMG's would be advertised as such and would have original documantation to prove why you should pay more than normal for it...

$10,000 isn't more than normal, actually on the low end of 500E prices

Oh, and if it were to really have an AMG engine, ya think he's be showing it off? AMG aircleaner, AMG partnumber on engine, AMG gauges etc.

Hope the stick-on plate doesn't damage the wood when the new owner takes it off

Sorry, if you guys are referring to me, this is not a 6.0 Hammer AMG modified vehicle, just a 500E Limited.

Was this car sold new in Canada, or was in imported into Canada from europe or elsewhere as a used car?

It makes a difference for USA importing regulations. From what I understand, any car sold new in Canada is fairly easy to import into the USA, but Euro-graymarkets cars that many folks import into Canada get real complicated and expensive to import into the USA. The Canadian govt has only a 15 year rule for gray market, where the USA govt has a 25 year rule... under or over the year limit is the difference between requiring phyisical changes to the car for importing or not. These changes remove the euro look, are very expensive, and you can't even keep the euro parts by law...

Importing a Canadian spec car is about a $500 import fee, but a greymarket import starts at $5000 and goes up quickly with any needed modifications to satisfy the USA DOT regulations.

Canadians can import any W124 500E without fear of regulations, since they all are at least 15 years old now.

I don't get the US laws, the average life span of a car in the USA is only 13 years, but we can't import a car 15 years old without a bunch of needless red tape.

Nice looking car BTW, GLWS

Vehicle is a European Import not a Canadian model. Yes US laws suck but there are many people in the US with Euro vehicles that are under the age of 25, there must be some sort of way to get them in, just a little research will probably get you the answers your looking for to import it into the US.

AMG didn't play with any of the 500Es. They are all MB cars built in the Porsche factory.
