FS - 300TD Manual Tranny Wagon

Rare European manual transmission import. 4 speed manual transmission, manual sunroof and manual windows. Located in Oakland, California.

Brakes recently done at MB Garage in San Mateo, CA. Four new rotors, pads, fluid, etc ($1,115)

Glow Plugs recently replaced by MB Garage in San Mateo, CA ($180)

Removal and replacement of O-rings with Bio diesel safe Viton lines by MB Garage in San Mateo, CA ($240)

Recent valve adjustment.

Recent shift bushings replacement.

Recent and constant oil changes.

Two new 205/70r14 radial tires.

New windshield wiper blades.

New gas pedal (needs installation)

283,XXX miles on a working odometer. 30+ MPG.

Problems:

Slow leak from power steering box. Slow leak from rear differential (new seal included) Car had an electrical fire in the ignition system, meaning the original circuitry needs tending or replacement before this is a daily driver again. Car runs and drives excellent for test driving purposes, but is being sold as a project. Car has rust holes on both front fenders and rear hatch lid.

Boons:

Well maintained. Tow package. I've moved up and down the west coast in this car and it's never left me stranded. Front fender and rear hatch lid included in the sale, along with manual(s) and extra parts! I hope this car goes to somebody who will fully utilize it to it's potential.

$2500

I'm going car-free for now. All offers considered. I'm asking what I have into it in recent work, not including my original purchase price. Bunch of folks have shown interest, most have flaked out due to lack of financing. If you are a serious buyer shopping for a decent Mercedes diesel please let me know.

Remove the flywheel, the speedo cable, the pedal box and all the clutch hydraulics and sell them to me. I will give you several hundred dollars, easy.

Then sell the tranny and engine for a few hundred more to someone else.

Then little by little sell off the seats, ancillaries, and trim pieces.

$1100 for a brake job is highway robbery, unless you got 4 new calipers and all new hard brake lines with that.

Good luck, whatever you decide!

Hey Braunhilda!

Thanks for your kind suggestions.

At this point, I am trying to get out of cars completely. Not interested in any more projects. You are certainly welcome to part it out!

It does have all new calipers I donno about hardlines, i'd need to look over the bill. I really like the MB garage in San Mateo. They've been around a million years and do good work.

Anyhow, good luck to us both!

I got ya'. Just know that the single most valuable item you have on that car is the flywheel. You could get more for that than the engine, the tranny, or everything else together minus engine and tranny.

If it were a 5-speed, which is truly rare, you might get someone close to $2500 but I'm just not seeing it with a 4-speed.

And I'm the moron trying to unload German Bosch nozzles for $60 a piece!!!

Funny how things go eh - who would think a flywheel would be worth so much?

I got two guys who seem serious about the car. I told them $2000. We'll see how things go. It is, after all, the world of flakers.
