The first thing to do with any "strange" offer is to google both the name and email address given. I used to lead them on (have a few bogus checks on the shop wall) but decided I didn't want to play anymore. This one was different in that instead of a check, the scammer offered to use paypal.
I collect bogus checks and money orders that I have made payable to my stuffed animal, The Little Horse, a.k.a. Theloneus L. Horse. The Bank of Scotland check actually has really good microprint in the paper. The best ones are the Safeway Moneygram which I'm quite sure is printed on actually moneygram stock paper. (sorry , no image of those).
