1986 300 SDL for sale

Hi everybody - thanks for looking at my post. I am reluctantly selling my 300 SDL, need some extra cash for a home purchase. What I have is a 1986 Mercedes Benz 300 SDL with 270,600 miles on her and I am asking $5,000 OBO. I drive the car every day to and from work and use her for family trips out of town and have never had a problem with her. The car is a southern car and there is no rust on it anywhere. To the best of my knowledge I am the 3rd owner of this vehicle. The first owner lived in Florida and was retired - hence the very dark tint on the windows. He also had the engine professionally rebuilt by MB at 100K miles due to some head issues. I found out the 86 models (W126) had a change in them and this was a common problem from the earlier (W123 models). Not much of a mechanic or MB historian so doing my best on the description. The 2nd owner lives in SC and worked as an insurance adjuster - this vehicle had some body damage which he did the claim adjustment on and wound up buying it and driving it. From what he described to me and I still keep in touch with him it was minor damage and he wound up repainting the car front to back in black. He also had the tranny rebuilt somewhere between 160-180K miles and put on the Euro headlights, he also had the front end suspension worked on, changed out all shocks and struts with bilsteins and replaced the exhaust. He changed jobs and had a short drive which is not so good on the diesels and hence sold it. Since I purchashed the vehicle I have had the following work done to it: New brakes all around, new tires, replaced the injector pump O rings, new glow plugs, new ignition and keys from MB and regular oil changes at 5K miles. The vehicle is honestly just awesome. I used the regular air filter with a K&N air filter during the winter months and change out to a hi-flow cold air intake during the summer months when running the A/C. When I last took this car on a trip to Michigan from SC I got 32 mpg without any stops at 60 mph. I drive it to work 40 miles each way and wind up doing closer to 75 or 80 mph so I get about 24-26 mpg regularly. The cruise control, a/c, block heater, turbo, power windows, etc... all work. You can get in this car and drive it from coast to coast without doing anything more than changing the oil and adding diesel. This car has never been set up to run veggie oil or alternative fuels. The leather interior is immaculate - no rips or tears, the carpet is immaculate. Things that are wrong with the vehicle: 1. Dash pad has 3 or 4 small cracks in it 2. sunroof does not work 3. the plastic clip on the window regulator arm on the rear passenger side broke off - haven't fixed it yet but window is in the up position, 4. Driverside front caliper boot is going - needs to be replaced. 5. Windshield has crack from top to bottom on passenger side that doesn't leak, I bought it this way and never fixed it. I have a quote and PO# assigned to it from Safelite Auto Glass for $197.00 to replace and warranty a new windshield. Everything else is in great shape. If you would like pictures or have any questions please feel free to contact me through the MB forum or at my number 803 981 3491 and my name is Brad. My direct email is bradsudz@gmail dot com. Thanks for looking.

Is this a SALVAGE or a REBUILT title?

Hi - No it is not a salvage or rebuild title. The title is clean. The damage was a crease to the drivers side door panels on the lower sections. I would have never known about the damage had the 2nd owner not told me about it. It was due to an accident that occurred in a parking lot. Not a traffic involved accident and no damage other than sheet metal was done on that one side.

Beautiful car.

Is it listed on Craigslist with a link to a photo album with lots and lots of pictures. ?

Pictures of everything an informed enthusiast would check will justify your asking price.

best of luck.
