FS: 1986 190D 2.5 5 spd trans

March edit update: SOLD
March edit, $1500. (don't ask what I was thinking at the original price :-))
February edit: entire car now $1600 cash. Drive it home. Located in Middletown, Delaware.

Entire car for $2400 if anyone is interested. Has Sachs lowering springs, 1 year old Yokohamas, euro lights, recent CCU, vacuum switch, pods, etc. Exterior is faded silver, interior is Blue tex.

-OR-

All (except for the flywheel) parts for a 5 spd transmission swap available. They are still in the car so you can drive before buying. Its the factory stock setup from a 1986 W201 chassis 190D 2.5 and will include trans, linkage, shifter, clutch, pressure plate, T/O bearing, crossmember, driveshaft, pedal cluster, master and slave cylinders, hard and soft lines. If the console wood is unique to the 5 spd then its also included. $975 includes delivery to your door in the 48USA.

Drivetrain has 295K on it and the car needs more attention than I'm willing to give it. I've owned it for 19 years. Engine runs strong but will need a headgasket soon, plus body has normal jackpoint rust in the rockers and needs paint.

Thumbs up 190 5 spd trans conversion kit

let's bump this, also add that the shifter is a "short shifter" as modified by MRP Engineering (see 190rev.net). No wrenching on cars today, there's 2 feet (!) of snow here. Did pick up a non-running John Deere snowblower for cheap, cleaned up the fuel system and let it rip. Great satisfaction seeing the white stuff move by internal combustion rather than my back.

Pictures below. Looks damn nice but still needs attention.

1986 190D 2.5, 292,800 miles, 5 spd manual transmission. Engine runs strong but will need a head gasket (has started to leak oil into the coolant). Same owner last 19 years, driven daily by me until 2003 when my son started using it. Constant 34 mpg. Original engine replaced (it threw a rod) with one from a salvage yard (that had 100K on it) at about 160000 miles.

The silver exterior is faded, needs to be repainted, hood has scratches. Left side was repainted due to sideswipe. Has a very small number of dings. Has rust around the jack tubes (common issue) but the tubes themselves are fine. One of the rubber lift points underneath is also rusted.. the Bosch Euro lights could use new glass lenses. A new hood pad is included (not installed). Sunroof works as it should. Wheels are stock alloys, tires are Yokohama Avid TRZ with 10,000 miles on them (new 01/09). Interior is dark blue MB tex, no tears or rips. Blue dashboard has cracks of course. The vinyl covering of the b and c pillars has been removed due to the foam padding coming loose (The vinyl pieces are included). Adhesive has leached through the carpet on the passenger tunnel (see pics). Front power windows work as they should, rears do not. Seats are manual adjust. Radio is a Sony aftermarket CD player. CCU was replaced with a rebuilt unit in 01/09, along with the aspirator motor, vacuum switches, and top center vacuum pod. All functions work and direct air properly. It runs R12 in the AC, was cold last summer (checking today wouldn't mean much).

The car has Sachs lowering springs, Bilstein sport shocks, and SS brake lines, otherwise its stock.

It runs great, I wouldn’t hesitate to go cross country with it.

Let me know if any questions, concerns, or need for additional pictures.

thanks for looking.
