I bought as parts car because of blue interior. The interior is nice, 8 of ten, which is better than exterior. My 300 SD has a blue interior with ripped seats, so that was my motivation.
Car sat for 4 years and hasn't been washed in four years. PO was old guy who hoped I was going to restore the car. It wasn't sold as a parts car, but I was able to buy it as a parts car because his grandson wanted the thing out of the driveway. It has a broken LR window regulator and the window was partway down the whole time it sat.
I believe, as the PO told me, the engine and transmission are strong. The car cranks but doesn't start, probably due to gunked up fuel. When you crank it you see oil pressure gauge go up to 3 instantly.
Car appears to have been repainted, see photo. Also there is some rust in each rear quarter panel. Other than that, just an isolated spot here or there, not a very rusty car.
I've had interest from buyers who want to buy it and fix it. I've waivered because of the still unfolding saga with my SD (see crash post). In any case, I'm not interested because the body's not mint enough for me to want to invest the time in bringing back the SEL. But, for someone looking for a daily driver it's an easy project.
