The really good:
Everything works. Near perfect interior, no dash cracks, original radio, carpet is perfect, etc. Every passenger that rides in it can't believe the car is 32 years old. Mostly original paint, and it all shines very nicely. New tires on steel wheels, with color keyed hubcaps. I drove this car on a 1500 mile round trip last year and it never missed a beat. I have all maintenance records and I believe about $9,000 was spent maintaining this car from 1992 to the present. It had rust protection added when new, as evidenced by plugs in the door jambs.
The original owner was elderly and must have had declining eyesight. I'm told he washed the car with damp or dry towels. I can't imagine even trying that, but the paint does have fine scratches in the clear over much of the surface. I think they would buff out, but I'm not willing to take a buffer to the car. The paint really does look pretty good as is. The car came from Pittsburgh, so it did see salt in its limited use. My wife's dad acquired the car in 1992, and both front doors were replaced with brand new door shells. The new paint on the doors is very good quality inside and out, but the paint is not a perfect color match. There is a shallow crease and large scratch through the paint on the front left fender, courtesy of a truck in a parking lot some years back. Last, but not least, there are rust bubbles on the rear fenders at one or two points around the wheel arches. Lower quarter panels are an unbelievable $40 each, but of course installation and paint will be much more than the parts. There is also rust on the front inner fenders visible under the hood. I've been under the car on a lift and structurally the car is completely solid, but I want to be completely upfront about what the car is and is not. In Alabama, where the car is now, it has a lot of years use left in it.
The car currently has Euro headlights, and later model 16" wheels with pricey, tapered hub 12mm spacers for the front. I'd really like to an enthusiast keep, drive, and enjoy this car as a low mileage weekend ride.
