FS: "Silver Arrow" brake calipers, 334mm Brembo & 300mm Ate

These are identical to the Silver Arrow brakes except for the color... real Silver Arrows are painted silver front & rear, these are black front and unpainted rears. All four calipers are in very good condition and include good used OE front brake pads, and new Axxis rear brake pads (not shown in photos). Also included are new wear sensors, brake paste, decals, and new mounting bolts for the rear calipers.

Rotors are NOT included - I can supply part numbers so you can purchase either solid or drilled rotors from your favorite MB parts vendor. I can also provide OE brake pad part numbers so you can look up the various aftermarket pads available. Rotor sizes are:

Front: 334mm x 32mm
Rear: 300mm x 22mm

These brakes are a bolt-on upgrade for all 1992-1995 400E, 500E, E420, and E500 E-class models; as well as R129 SL-class models from 1990 through 1998, including the 300SL, 500SL, 600SL, SL320, SL500, and SL600. The brakes can be made to fit all other 1986-1995 W124's (E-class) and 1984-1993 W201's (190E/190D) with additional modifications (see Note 2 below). 17-inch wheels are required to clear the front Brembo calipers, and some models may need trimming of the rear dust shields - again, email me with your exact year/model and I can tell you if any mods are required.

Note 1: These calipers are the ONLY factory Brembos larger than 300mm which fit correctly on the W124 / R129 / W201 chassis, using factory rotors, hoses, and hardware - with no Mickey-Mouse modifications.

Note 2: Front lower control arms (LCA) with non-replaceable ball joints are required for clearance of the larger 334mm rotors, as shown in this photo. If your car has the early type LCA's with replaceable ball joints, you will need to swap to the late style LCA's. All US-spec 124.032, .034, .052, and .066 chassis already have the correct LCA's; as do all 129.076. For 124.036 and 129.066/067 it depends on the year/VIN/options. All other W124/R129 models, and I believe all years/models of W201 will need the control arm swap. Again, email me with your vehicle info and I can probably tell you which LCA's came from the factory on your car.

$750 / obo plus S&H. International shipping ok if you pay with PayPal. I will sell the fronts separately if you don't need the rears. I have sold about a dozen of these kits over the past few years, contact me directly for photos and current availability.

Dave any clue how much larger these are over the stock 400E ones? We just put the 400's on the 16valve track car

John,

The 93-95 400E/E420 brakes (in USA) are 294x25 up front, and 278x24 rear. The 1992 model has even smaller/thinner front brakes (295x22).

The "Silver Arrow" setup is significantly larger. Not only are the rotors physically larger (for reduced fade, and increased brake torque) but the pads are larger as well, for more swept area.

For a 190E-16 race car, the 400E brakes should be adequate... but the Silver Arrow setup would be bulletproof. I don't think you could ever make them fade on a W201 even with 400hp under the hood.

WOW! $750.00 sounds like a great price when you consider that a set of the same front calipers, painted silver, have a dealer list of $1740.00

Front SA Cross Drilled Rotors p/n 1294212312
Rear SA Cross Drilled Rotors p/n 1294230512

Please consider Akebono #EUR847 front ceramic pads and #EUR603 rear ceramic pads to get rid of that ugly black brake dust and I believe better stopping power.

Will the silver arrow disc slot in on a regular sl320 edition 2001?

Yes, if the car already has 334mm brakes, you can swap in the silver arrow cross-drilled disc without any modifications. If you don't have the 334mm brakes already, you would need to install the matching calipers in addition to the rotors. I think the late SL320 in Europe came with the big brakes (334mm) from the factory... would need the last 7 digits of your VIN to verify this in the EPC though.

details for brakes

Yes i will send this over to you. I have been pulling my hair out about this as when i add the details to eurocarparts.com it says my brakes are smaller (not the 334 / 300 set up)

However these are exactly the same calipers and size for the silver arrow edition???

Bah, you can't trust any part websites. The Mercedes EPC (what the dealer uses to look up parts) says that for your 129.064 chassis, after chassis F187942 they all have the 334mm front brakes. Your chassis number is after that break point so it should already have the big brakes.

Exactly the same size, yes. The difference is color... your calipers will be black, and Silver Arrow calipers are painted silver. But the Silver Arrow cross-drillled rotors will bolt right up. If you want to confirm, look at this photo... if your SL320 front calipers look just like those, you definitely have the 334mm front brakes. The smaller calipers look completely different.
