Knowing how screwed he may be, you might just say, pay me small payments even if they're small, to avoid the possibility of criminal charges like RKH says. He'd be stupid to let $120 dig him deeper with problems. But who knows...
Hope you get a response from him. Let us know.
He hasn't responded yet, but I told both Chris, (left messages) and the moderator that had PM'd me, that I was more than willing to take time payments, in the case he may be strapped. I'd be willing to take $10 to $20 a month, anything to show good intentions.
Somehow I had suspected early on that he may be in trouble, but now it seems he's way over his head.
I even offered to send him additional money to ship it, but got no responce.
Even today, if he were to just be honest and say he's broke and can't ship it, I'd send him another $35 shipping fee just to put the whole thing behind us. I'd rather pay an extra $35 to get the swaybar than to lose the $120 completely.
But in the big scheme of things, it'll probably end up as a lesson learned.
Let me list some things to watch for---
1 - New forum member offers - something Rich talked with me about a long time ago, without some history to review, new forum members, or low post members are not a safe buy, unless for cash in person transactions
2 - Paypal isn't secure at all, but back Paypal up with a Credit Card for additional Bank security
3 - USPS - if mailing a check or money order, make sure you send it registered and return signature required
4 - Moderators have little power over anything except Banning a member. But a member only needs a new email address and a new name to start over again..
5 - Too good to be true - If it sounds that way, it probably is.
