FS: 1994 E320 Wagon - $4,999
Nice low mileage, famous pedigree 1994 E320 Wagon 109k original miles - roughly 7.5k miles per year. Automatic, Straight Six. Light silver/blue with light tan interior. Moonroof, power driver seat. Power windows and locks, all in fine mechanical condition. Great alternative to the modern day minivan, vehicles has three rows of seating.
Vehicle was originally purchased by Ken Thompson (aka George Kennedy Thompson), the former CEO of Wachovia. While not great at maintaining shareholder value, Mr. Thompson did a great job of maintaining this automobile. He bought the vehicle new in Jacksonville, FL and brought it with him here to Charlotte, NC. While he ran Wachovia, the E320 was serviced by Beck along with a local Myers Park garage. Many of the original service records come with the vehicle from the original from the period while the Thompsons owned it.
An acquiantance of mine purchased this vehicle next. He originally bought the car for his elderly parents to drive around town, and later used by his teenage son. The son's period of ownership is evidenced by the modern stereo, along with a couple of dings from the high school parking lot. As MB enthusiasts, the family kept the car running like a top. The brother of the former owner worked at one of the local independent MB shops, which tells me they knew what they were doing when it came to buying and maintaining these cars. They tended to one of the main problems these cars normally suffer - replacing the wiring harness. Struts for the rear gate have also been replaced (by me). When the previous owner's son went off to school, he couldn't stand to see it go to waste.
I love the old Benz and it's pedigree, so when the decided to sell this vehicle, I quickly decided to purchase it, with the idea of using it to save gas. I only drive around town, and this wagon consistently deliver 20MPG (versus my Tahoe's 14). My other vehicle is a Tahoe, so I bought the MB to drive for the times when I don't have the 3 kids and 2 dogs with me. It turns out the nuissance of having 3 three cars but only a 2 car garage is greater than the benefit of the gas savings. I have therefore decided to sell it.
Tire and pads have been recently replaced. Car has AIWA CD changer. I don't know much about stereos, but head unit shows an error message whenever changer is selected - not sure if this is easily repairable or not. Interior is in very nice condition - slight stains in carpet can either by shampood out by a talented detail shop or covered (as I have done). Includes Mercedes floor mats. Though not a museum piece, the exterior is also in nice condition. Exception is small scrape along front right front fender - although properly repaired and re-painted, paint is fading at a slower rate than the original. Great car for young families; parents wanting a solid, safe car for the young drivers in their families; or Wachovia historians.
Please email with questions - I took some pics tonight, which I can distribute, and plan to take some better exteriors this weekend in the sunlight. Will accept certified bank check only (hold your jokes - and your personal checks).
