WTB 3.07 or 3.08 Gear Diff. for my 92 400E

Please help me locate a differential I can bolt into my 92 400E. I'm looking for a 3.07 or 3.08 gear ratio. If I must I'll settle for a 2.82 ratio.

My 400 DOES NOT have ASR, so I'm looking for a non ASR Diff.

I believe a 1990 to mid 1995 R129 & W140 shares the same Differential housing. Please clarify this.

Any help in getting 3.07 or 3.08 gears in my 400E is MUCH APPRECIATED.

Oh, did I mention I'm trying to figure out how or what I can do to get a Limited Slip differential.

Or if there's anyone with the tools and expieriance out there, I'm willing to purchase the gears and ship my diff for the gear swap. I'm guessing my local MB dealer will want to charge $1,500.00+ for this. I'd rather hunt for the right diff than write the fat check.

Chris

OK, looks like what I'm looking for is a rear differential from a 1990 or 1991 300CE (non ASR)

trying to make it a track car?

I put the 2.82 diff in my 94 e420

cost me $400 from Used Mercedes parts, rebuilt mercedes transmissions, new mercedes parts (plus shipping)

it came off a w140 (95 s420 i think)

did it myself (its pretty simple and straight forward)

3.07....to me is overkill..unless its track car

but give sun valley mercedes a call..they might have what you need

1995 E420 - Cross drilled rotors, GPS in place of ashtray, More mods to come

Yeah, track car and Saturday night fun car.

Anyhow, GSXR hooked me up with Potomac German Auto and my 3.06 gear diff is on the way. I'll have to up my budget for rear tires!

Thanks again GSXR & Pat at Potomac German Auto. You guys rock.

The donor w/ the 3.06 diff is a 91 or 92 300CE FYI
