Alexno, that printout is not an "invoice" it's just a "quote", where someone walked into the dealer and said "hey do me a favor and print me up some ridiculous price for this top I'm trying to sell". You didn't actually pay that price, and nobody ever would pay that price.

The top you have cost exactly $3,600.00 brand-new in 1998, as shown on the original invoice that Lynn posted for you.

And the thing is, nobody buys these from the dealer anyway. There are plenty of used ones around, and lately they have been going for $500-$1000. I already told you this via PM. You are never going to sell this top at $5k, I can guarantee you that. Heck, I paid $750 for the last one I bought, for my silver SL600, and it was in great condition.

I'm currently shopping around for a black/black one for our black SL500, and I would be happy to buy this one from you, but you're going to have to come back down to earth on the price.

$5k is way more than the silly thing even cost when it was brand new, and speaking generally, car parts with 11 years' worth of wear and tear on them don't normally go UP in value over what they sold for new. So I dunno man, if you get serious about selling it, let me know. Otherwise, I think you're going to be sitting on it for awhile.

Wow! $19,000.00 for a Pano Top....for that price you can buy a low mileage, clean 98-01 Sl500...and if you are lucky you may find one with pano top!

I want a pano. But not I'm not that desperate to pay even the seller's asking price so much so the dealers quote/price.

May I suggest that you be a little more realistic and start at $3600 OBO. Then maybe you will get a hit.

Yeah, I agree. His price is way too high.

To the OP: Alexno, I'm not trying to be rude, but your price is ridiculous. This thing only sold for $3,600.00 brand-new, and you're certainly not going to get any more than the original price for it, especially when it's now 11 years old. You can buy a whole 500SL for $10k now, nobody's going to pay $5k just for a hard top.

I'm not sure how long you want to sit on this top, but when you decide to get serious about selling it, then you can consider this a standing offer from me to buy it. I would be happy to pay $1,500.00 or thereabouts, which is a fair price. For both of us.

Otherwise, I'll just keep my eyes peeled and pick up another one off ebay or craigslist for $750, like I did last time.
