This Wheel is the exact same as the wheel that comes on C43 and CLK55. This wheel will fit a C36 AMG but did not come from one or a "euro" CLK55. Early W208 CLK's did not come with steering wheel controls. I work for Mercedes I know what I am talking about. Either way its an awesome steering wheel that looks and feels awesome!!
You don't need to work for a dealer to know this, you just need a EPC.
The CLK55 was introduced in the US for model year 2001, so it was only available with the multi function steering wheel. In Europe, the CLK55 was introduced in model year 2000 and early versions had the steering wheel without the multi-function buttons (like yours). Mid year, the multi-function buttons were introduced. The only other AMG model to use this steering wheel was the 1997 C36 (in the US)
The C43 wheel looks similar, but the two tone version only has the top section of the steering wheel in gray (blue, red, black and green were optional colors as part of the Designo package) and the whole top section is gray, not partial gray like the wheel you have. The bottom section of the C43 wheel is solid black.
Furthermore, the C43 and E55 never had gray horn buttons on the airbag, only black.
The wheel on the 1998/1999 C43 is also used on the 1999 E55.
SLK/CLK cars prior to model year 2000, used a different steering wheel and a airbag that had a hard plastic MB wreath star (SLK), or just a molded MB star (some CLK and R129's)none were ever labeled with the AMG logo, which was reserved for AMG models only.
I installed a CLK55 wheel like yours in my 190e. I also have a E55 wheel in my 500e with a R129 airbag. And if that wasn't enough, I have another solid black C43 steering wheel and C43 airbag waiting for my next project.
