I know that, I am willing to sacrifice, having money to pay the bills and a nice cushion is more important now than a material item to me. If I take several thousand dollar loss, so be it, I don't expect to get what I paid for it (unless I sold it overseas), but I realistically expected around 55k for it and would sell in a heartbeat if I could get 55k.

BTW Happy Thanksgiving to all and thank you for your concern and input.

I have an idea, since you own it and have the title, you could lease it to someone else. You could easily draw up a lease contract for whatever terms you wanted, the lease payment would easily cover your HELOC payment and when the lease is up and you are working again you will get your baby back.

Don't feel bad I had a brand new 2005 E55 with every option, the real estate market crashed and look what I'm driving now.

Thanks,
Paul

Mystic, my sympathies. Awful time to try and sell a car, particularly a high-end one with a fairly narrow focus. I like PAS idea, but you'd still have to insure it and you'd have a headache there anyway, and even MB is having trouble moving them now with their own lease incentives...and you never know how the lessee is going to treat it. Gotta be even more scary when kdude tells you your car's big brother was offered $12,500 under what you're looking for. (Man, if I could get an E63 for under $50K I'd go back in debt for that...glad it's not realistic.)

You could always try one of those essay contest deals, but that would take at least 4-6 weeks to run out and you still might not get enough to run out the deal. Tight economy is painful on all fronts.

I'm sorry roadtripper had to unload on you, too. Generally sound advice, but when it's in a personal context it's pretty unfriendly. Good of you to take it gently and offer a further explanation, not necessary, but good of you nevertheless.

I don't have any ideas for you, but I do wish you well. Hopefully you can hang on long enough that you land another job and the issue resolves itself. If nothing else you know you can get close to $50 if that becomes necessary. At least you have that, a lot of folks would probably envy your position. It's Thanksgiving, so hopefully you can look past this and count your blessings nonetheless.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. (Winston Churchill)

Here are some lease options, and you don't have to worry about insurance, the lessee insures it and you (lessor) are the lien holder and listed on the policy the same way big companies do it.

All based on $50,000 purchase price and 6% rate.

12 month lease:
0 down, 1100/mo +tax, $40,000 residual
5000 down, 650/mo +tax, $40,000 residual

24 month lease:
0 down, 1045/mo +tax, $30,000 residual
5000 down, 825/mo +tax, $30,000 residual

Obviously you can mess with the terms and get different numbers but gives you an idea.

Thanks,
Paul

ms25, you're a banker so you know the realities of the credit market. You're upside down in the note and there is no way around that. The question is whether you're wiser to sell the car and eat the buyout on the note or hold on to the car and live with the payment. In your current state of employment, the choice may be obvious. I'm with you on the not-seeing-it-coming. Wells Fargo is one of the most solid banks left standing, but they're panicked by the death and destruction all around them. Keep the lines open to your old job and hold on tight. Good luck.

Im sorry to hear about your situation.

I Leased an 06 CLS55 AMG In Febuary of 2006.

I then placed an order on $165,000 2008 997TT (had 15,000 in options, and 20" Custom HRE's put on at the dealership, Along with A Full Exhaust, and ECU Tuning) in November 2008 with a January deliver date. I needed to free up some cash for my business. And Sold the Car with 6,000 miles in October for $120,000. I Lost $45,000 in 9 Months

So now im driving My CLS55 still, and to tell you the truth I like it more, its more comfortable, AC Blows Cold. Yeah its not 600+hp like my Turbo was but for the money the Porsche wasnt worth it. I like my AMG so much that in a month when the lease is up. I am looking to purchase an 05 E55 AMG.

I feel your pain (been in a similar situation), and Wish the best of luck for you.

put your car on autotrader.com and autotrader.ca and maybe someone will buy it. you could also try trading it at a dealer and they would probably give you 55k for it. c63 is amazing car
