FS: 1973 350SLC, needs some love.

I've got a 1973 350SLC Euro for sale that needs a new, loving home. It's currently not running - not getting any spark. My mechanic buddy suggested the ignition control module, I just haven't had the money to take it into the shop. It was running when I bought it, it ran a bit rich and rough, but it drove well. Outside of the whole no spark problem, the turn signals and interior dash lights don't work.

The PO had started putting a new interior in out of a '74 450SLC, the seats and some door panels are installed, the rest of the panels and interior trim are currently in my garage. There are newer wheels and tires with less than 5k miles according to the PO. I still have the originals which will go with the car. It also had a new timing chain and guides, new points, new wires, a new cap, a fuel system tuneup, new brakes, and new wheel bearings. All in all, it's in good shape. A couple rust bubbles around the car and a bit under the battery, but I haven't seen any outside of that.

I'd like to get $1000 for the car. I'm in Indianapolis, IN. I have a friend with a truck and trailer, so there is a chance I could have the car delivered within a reasonable distance.

Wish you were closer to the left coast, I'd jump on it, but it's too far away.

Does it have a clear Indiana title? I'm about as far away from you as it's possible to be and stay in Indiana. However, if I can make room and scrape up the coins, I may talk to you about it. I'll need to wait a bit so I'll keep an eye on it in case you don't sell it.

Just get a MSD ignition system. If you look you can find them used for about a hundred bucks. I have a friend with a 72 450SL who kept having trouble with his MB ignition. He sent it the module to somebody in Florida have it rebuilt twice. When it failed the last time he went with a MSD 5 ignition module. Just looked and it is available from Jegs for 109 dollars. MSD 5-Series Ignition - JEGS I live in Bloomington and help you put it in if you want. PM me if you want to go this route.

Pete

Pete,

Thanks for the heads up and the offer. As it is though, I've got another vehicle lined up and would rather not use this as my primary driver through winter.
