Got to agree that the initial $9500 price is typical used car technique. 40% away from real market, by an educated seller...that is a high ball.

It's a great sounding car.

Guys, the seller may put any price they feel on their goods.

Others may chime in, politely, to advise what they think the car may be worth.

The seller may choose to take that advice or ignore it.

The car may never sell.

Let's play the ball not the man hey?

I guess used car salesmen is a dirtier word than I thought. Sorry if I offended the seller...

This is a pretty tame discussion, IMO.

It could be worse, look at this guy trying to sell his E320 wagon. The OP's price may be high, but this guys on a whole different planet.

Play the ball not the man?

I was commenting on the sales strategy of the man, not the man.

And as someone who just lost a wagon to my GF (today, officially) I belong poking and prodding on a thread about a nice wagon within driving distance of my home. If I don't tell'm what I think, how will we ever come to price agreement?

I keed, I keed, seller is not desperate enough to do business with me. But I appreciate the help from some (tyler) in bringing this car's price down $2k with one post. At this rate...lol...nevermind.

So after almost 4.5 months the car didn't sell. I think its the price thingie. No doubt the car is excellent but ONLY a person who knows and appreciates these cars will buy it. They have usually researched the heck out of these and are very familiar with the value of these things. From $7K and up you can get a W210, a whole different monster. For $9500 you can get a 2000+ in excellent condition. Since most wagon owners are usually women, they also prefer a more modern look, another negative for the W124 now. Most W124 tend to me males who appreciate fine German engineering. I wish you good luck in selling it. Also in about 2 weeks this car will a a year older then it is today.
