how are supposed to know where you are located? pricing varies my locale and those interested might want to see it in person - esp. since you attached no photos! you'll get a lot more interest with DETAILED clear photos.

if you are the original owner, why is the car starmarked? (typically done by benzo dealers that are selling used cars). confusing. did you mean that you bought an additional warranty in addition to the normal 4y/50000m?

thoughts?

I guess you can always post like you did to ask.

It's in Southern California (Los Angeles area).

Photo's to follow shortly. The dealer offered $37,200 and we may just trade it in.

It's the ELM warranty. Purchased an additional 4 years and 50,000 miles (8 years/100k miles total) factory warranty. It's been a life saver for two window regulators! Luckily, I didn't pay any extra for it when we got the car.

Perhaps "Starmarked" was the wrong term. I thought that was on the papers I have for it referring to the ELM warranty. My mistake.

trading is certainly easier and you get the tax benefit to the extent of the trade-in value against the price of the new car. it's the only way to go if you cannot get your private party price AND you are looking to replace the vehicle.

i don't know what sales tax is in the state of california - but let's assume it is 7%. that means that you need to get at least $39,800 (the $37,200 the dealer offered you plus the (7% assumed in this example) state tax savings on the new car and that is another $2,600 in this example) on a private party sale to just break even. therefore, you should accept no less than $40,000 on a private party sale. anything above that is gravy.

i'm sure you knew all that. consider this a free bump up in the classified listings! best of luck in whatever you do. cheers.
