FS 1987 300 TD

Hi all,

I joined this forum three months ago to get some help about selling this car. I got some good advice here and decided the best place to find a buyer might be here. This car is owned by an elderly lady who is scaling down her life and needs to sell it. She can not afford to put any money into the car so I am selling the car as-is. I have no financial interest in this car and my only concern is to get a fair price for this woman.

The car is a 87 turbo diesel wagon with only 118,000 miles on the odometer. I have no reason to believe that this is not accurate. The car seems to be running fine (I am not an expert on diesels). She has maintained the car but as of late has not had money to put into it so I would expect that you will need to put some repairs into the car. There are some scuffs and scrapes on the body but it has never been in an accident. The car has not been garaged so the paint is faded and a serious collector might want to have it repainted. As far as I can see there is little or no rust on the car. The sunroof works but one of the rear power windows does not. The interior is sound with no cracks or rips in the upholstry. The third seat is fine and has never been used. Most everything else is orginal and seems to be working.

The car is located in the Washington DC metro area and you can come inspect the car. The registration has expired so any test drive would be limited to the neighborhood at your own risk. You are welcome to have any mechanic inspect the car for defects, or if you are out of the area, I am willing to deliver (somehow) the car to any local mechanic of your choice for inspection-at your expense.

The car was registered and driven daily in the state of Maryland until May of this year. The car has to be sold and will go to the best offer that I can get. But I know it is a rare vehicle and have yet to see one with milage as low as this one. I expect you to be fair in your offers.

Here is a link to some photos of the car. I took these today and have yet to wash and clean the interior. So you are seeing it pretty much as it is.

This is the only place I am advertising the car for now.

$8000, maybe $10,000 if everything works. Probably closer to $8000.

Realistically with all those dings scapes, I think 5K is reasonable.

I ran the AC yesterday but it is not putting out cold air. So no. However, the sunroof works and I understand that they can be a problem. You are right about the dings and repairs needed. This certainly would affect the price. However, I think the best feature is the milage on the engine. I have yet to see one with this sort of low milage. That is why it is hard for me to price it. Anyways, it is a prefectly driveable car now.

I would accept something around $4.500 as-is. If anyone is interested.

I plan on putting it up on ebay in the next few days.

Thanks for your comments.
