Why would you sell this? Those 91 350SDL's are really hard to find, especially in this condition.

If diesel fuel wasn't so overpriced I'd be considering this one. I really like that car.

Did you paint the bottom half of the car to match the body? I see the mirrors are factory silver. I assume the lower panels were the same way, unless there was some special SDL paint package?

Hi,
Yes the lower parts have been painted a nice blue. Its not body color, but I think it looks better than it was all one color.I am selling it because I just have a lot of cars.

Perhaps I made a mistake.
I drove an obsessively maintained, beloved low mi 1991 350SDL. It was completely "gone over" every three thousand miles....religously. It was in MINT condition, inside and out.
Surprisingly, at 55mph loafing on the highway, the motor broke down.
Dealer quoted $14,000.00 for a new motor, or $500.00 as is.
I took the $500.00 and walked away.
Impulsively, I replaced it with a pretty Chrysler Sebring convertible. I drove it for four trouble free years, but longed to be back behind the wheel of a Mercedes.
Recently sold the Chrysler and bought a perfect E320 cabriolet.
I've never been happier.

It threw a rod. That is only downside to these cars. The engines are known for these problems. Why you didn't part it out and just took the dealers low ball offer is quite dumb. With a blown engine, the car was worth FAR more then $500. Then you replaced it with a mid-life-crisis mobile, which is another story to its own.

The dealer most likely found a used engine from a wrecking yard and made a bunch of money on that one... That is one option that the owner should have considered himself, but it is the proverbial "water under the bridge" now.
