Looking to buy a 190D or 300 series Diesel

Does anyone know of a 190D or 300D for sale. A friend of mine has a 190D with 117,000 miles that he said he would sell. He is asking $3800.00 It is in really good shape. Does this sound good? Wanting for daily driver. This is my first post. Thank you for the help! Jeff

Also the 190D that my friend says he would sell me is geared low. At 70mph it is running 3500 RPM. Does this seem a little high? If I do buy this car is there anything I can do about this. Regear or something? It is a 1984. Are all 190D running like this. Thanks again, Jeff

If the RPM's sound normal is it bad to run 70-75 for a long period of time at those RPM's? For a four or five hour trip? Also does that sound like a good deal. 1984 190D with 117,000 miles?

Jeff, does your friends car have an automatic or 5 speed? I used to drive a 1985 190D with a 5 speed and frequently drove the car on several long highway trips at 70+ and it never missed a beat. You cant beat the gas mileage IF it is a manual. If it is an auto, I have to warn you it is gonna be slooooooow off the line. When I had my 190D I lived in Chicago and even with a 5 speed I wish I had a buck every time some asshole behind me blasted their horn at me merging onto the expressway and not heading down the ramp fast enough. The car does not have enough pick up off the line to get out of its own way but once you are at cruising speed it can do it all day long.

If you want additional insight, PM me your contact info and I can give you a call.

Also, would suggest you update your profile to include your location.
