I am selling my beloved '83 Mercedes 300SD. I have had it just over a year and have kept it well maintained. I just bought a new car and I do not have parking space for two cars. It says 186k miles on the odometer. My best guess is that is really has about 195k miles now.
The interior is in really good condition minus some small defects and the exterior was repainted 3 years ago. The tires were all replaced a few months ago.
There are a few normal maintenance things that it is due for (primarily the front brakes) and with my crazy work schedule I just do not have the time to fix them right now. This probably makes me an awful salesman to list these problems, but here is the complete list of things that could use repair if you want it back to near-perfect condition:
It needs new front brake pads and rotors.
The AC compressor needs to be replaced if you want working AC. I bought it this way and had it inspected by my own mechanics.
The odometer and tachometer do not work. They did not work when I bought it. Good luck finding one of these with over 150k miles with a working odometer/tech that has not had it replaced. This is the #1 most common part to fail on these older Mercedes.
The front passenger window needs a new motor gear.
The wood on the dash and the driver's seat have minor defects, but everything else is great on the interior
As far as exterior defects, the back windows have a little bit of 'fogging' on the corners.
The front two speakers were blown when I bought it and they still need replacing.
Cruise control does not work properly.
The shut-off vacuum relay is beginning to get slow, which means it could use replacing soon. These are really easy and quick fixes, but I really just don't have the time to work on it right now.
