This message is not any attempt to flame another individual but simply to serve as a warning for those of you considering purchasing from this member. I will admit that I feel like a sap because I consider myself a very good judge of character; now, however, I feel my intuition was wrong.
Two weeks ago I purchased a Navigation System for my 2006 C230 from the forum member C240toC280. We had initially emailed a number of times prior to the purchase and the sellers replies where always very prompt. I paid the agreed amount via paypal. After the payment, I received an e-mail from C240toC280 stating he shipped the item and he provided me with the tracking number. The following day I e-mailed C240toC280 simply to thank him and was alarmed when my email was returned indicating that the email address did not exist. I then attempted to email another address which had previously been active, and that too was returned with a mail delivery error. Hoping that my gut instinct was wrong, I contacted the shipping carrier to verify if the number he had provided was legitimate; unfortunately it was not. Lastly, I sent a private message to his forum member account on Monday, 1/22, and that too has not been returned.
It is still my hope that the package arrives in the mail as was promised late last week, however, I feel that there are enough red flags to warrant this transaction as a scam. I have since moved forward with paypal to reclaim my money. If, by chance I am wrong, and the package is received as promised, I will freely apologize to C240toC280 and repay the amount immediately.
Again, this message is only to serve as a warning for any members considering a transaction with C240toC280.
