Creamy-Yellow 1979 Mercedes Benz 300SD with TDI Turbodiesel Engine and automatic transmission.
This car is in great condition inside, outside, and under the hood, and has had a lot of work over the past few years.
It has 227k miles, and many more to go. I replaced the fuel filter and started running it on B100 Biodiesel, but haven't replaced the fuel lines yet.
It is rust free, except for a little bit inside the fuel tank cover.
The interior and dash are in great condition as well.
The engine and transmission are in great shape.
This is my favorite body on a turbo-diesel. It's got the classic 70s curves with the extra SD features, like a double bumper, fog lights, and wheels with locking covers.
The climate control on this car doesn't work (they rarely do on the old Mercedes) b/c it's $1000 just for the new unit. The previous owner, however, installed a blower motor so you can get heat through all the vents, something you won't find on many older Mercedes. Also, all the windows work, another rare find on an old Mercedes.
Here's what's been worked on recently:
-Newish battery and tires from Les Schwab (with warranty)
-New rear brake pads
-New Front brake rotors
-New passenger side window regulators
-New Bosch Starter
-New Glow Plugs
-New Glow Plug Controller
-Transmission fluid change
-New Air and Fuel filters
-Aftermarket CD Player installed
Here's the issues it has (all minor)
-Sunroof doesn't work
-Tiny bits of paint chipped off on driver's side rear door
-tiny bit of spraypaint on the back seat belts
-Tachometer doesn't work (easy fix)
-Fuel gauge mostly works fine, but skips around a little bit (needs new sensor spring)
-One Wheel cover missing
-Small vacuum leak, so the automatic locks and shutoff work fine, but the brake booster (power brakes) doesn't work
-The odomoter just started having issues yesterday (they're notorious for that)
There's one more catch:
I just got this car and won't get the title until the first week of December. I'm thinking if someone wants it they can pay 2/3 upfront and get a contract of sale and my provisional title, and then pay the other 1/3 when I get the official title and sign it over.
