FS: Brother's 87 190D 2.5 Turbo, Florida, 191K miles, PICS

Hi Everyone!

My brother has decided to let go of his rare 1987 190D 2.5 Turbo Diesel. I believe the name of the color is called Smoke Silver (a light gold color) and the interior is Palomino.

The exterior is in good shape with a few nicks, dings and scratches here and there associated with the 191,000 miles it has been driven. Some jerk banged in the driver side rear door sometime last year and left a rather large dent in the door. My brother tried to get it knocked out as good as our mechanic could with a little success, now it's smaller but still seeable and a little chip of paint has come off is lightly rusting. A light fender bender left the front passenger side of the bumper cracked and made a ding above the front turn signal which has chipped the paint off. The grill screen also has some damage to it associated from a front end accident about 4 years ago (which was completely repaired- paid for by the insurance company, except for the grill). That can easily be repaired by purchasing a new grill screen for about $30 from Performance Products. Other then the few imperfections the exterior is in good shape as well as the paint.

The interior is also in good shape with no cracks in the dashboard, (actually the only crack around the dash is on the driver side around the rear dome light button). The wood grain is also in good shape with only a few scratches and maybe one or two small cracks, but nothing hideous. The driver seat shows wear especially on the bolster of the seat. The rest of the seats are in good shape to my knowledge. The sunvisors may need to be replaced if the new owner wishes to, the mirror part is falling out of both of them but are being held in place by hair bands (easy fix!). The carpet is satisfactory as far as cleanliness is concerned but has come untucked from the drivers door sill.

Options: This 190D has all of the usual Mercedes options including rare dual power seats (both working I believe). The sunroof also works. The only thing I believe doesn't work is one of the rear windows. The A/C also works and blows as cool as the 190 air conditioners were able too, I think.

Mechanically this car is as sound as can be. The transmission was completely rebuilt less than one week ago totaling in excess of $1,500. The car also had a problem with overheating eariler this year and has since been corrected after $1,400 worth of work.

Tires: All 4 tires are Michelin Harmony's and were installed on 7/9/03 at 157,457. I'm not sure but one tire may be going bad due to an unfamiliar road noise, you'll have to ask my brother about that though. So other than that the tires have about 50% tread left.

Extras: The car has tinted windows which works wonders in the Florida heat. My brother also had European Headlights installed in early 2001. He has updated the stereo to a Sony CD player unit and had an XM Satellite Radio installed. To accomadate this, the wood grain piece below the radio unit was cut to fit a special piece. The job looks like a professional did it. My brother would like to sell the car with the XM unit in place so the new owner wouldn't have to buy a new wood piece.

Oh yeah, I forgot a new windshield was also installed this past month due to a crack that obstructed the drivers view. However there is no record of this being done.

Records: My brother purchased this car in late July of 2000. When he bought it, the car came with no records. But since then my brother has kept all of his invoices of work done. So the new owner will receive records from the past five years and 90,000+ miles my brother has owned the car.

Some recent items put into the car include: new thermostat, new waterpump, emergency flasher switch, left right door stop, new vacuum pump, head set, 1 set head bolts, new fan clutch, radiator cap, and the list goes on.

No money has been spared keeping this car in top mechanical condition, but my brother has decided he's had enough with this car and really wants to get a 123 TD wagon to carry his music equipment in. The car has 191,000 miles and still has lots of life left in it. He wants it to go to a good home.

He's starting the price out at $5,000 but is open to any REASONABLE offers that may come his way. Please don't waste his time with low ball offers. Anybody who knows Mercedes Diesels know they'll run forever if taken care of like hes done to this car. Also, anybody familiar to MB diesels know this is a fairly RARE car with only a little over 1,100 produced (I believe?)

If you would like to ask my brother (Bryan) anything else about this car you can call him on his cell phone @ (352)262-8035 and leave a message if he doesn't answer. You may also e-mail him at: daimlerdiesel@bellsouth.net Speaking of e-mail, he has a clean carfax report that he will more than likely be willing to send anyone who is serious about this car. If you wish for more photos e-mail me at: deezuhl@bellsouth.net

The car is located in: Gainesville, Florida. Anyone who wants to view the car can call my brother to set up an appointment with him.

Sorry about the long post, I just wanted to describe the car as best as I can[:I]

Okay everyone. Things have cleared up at my place so I'll put more pics up of the 190. Sorry for any blurry pictures.
