Ok gang, here is the scoop on my 1990 300D. I bought it last Winter from the original owner. He purchased the car new in Portland, Oregon for his wife in 1990. They drove it to their home in Tucson and it stayed here in a garage for the time they owned it. The man owned a diesel maintenance shop and religiously maintained the car with full records of what was done. His wife passed away and he no longer wanted to keep the car. I bought it and have done the following: New motor mounts, new radiator, replace the tachometer as it was inop, had the car gone through for a check by MB of Tucson. They noted brake pads were not MB parts, but still good. They also noted the speedo cable was slightly crimped but still operating. They replaced all fuel lines due to age. The only thing that it could use is the vacuum actuators that regulate the heat/cool cycling are "sticky" and tend to overshoot. I did not have this addressed as the system works fine on max cool and that is where I use it. The windshield has one "scuff" in a non problem area and if you want to drive it at night a lot, you might consider replacing it as there is a slight sand blasting to the wind shield that will bother the picky people. The interior is EXCELLENT. I removed the seat covers that the woman had on the seats and I believe the seats had never been sat directly on in it's life until I sat on them. I put new interior matts on the floor and there is a small stain under the rear seat matt that you cannot see unless you remove the matts. There is one slight crack at the shift console in the wood trim, otherwise all is very nice.
Tires are 80%.
The exterior is EXCELLENT. Never any damage history. There were several parking lot dings on the car when I bought it. The body shop offered to repaint the entire car the original Bronzit color for a good price so I went for it. I would call the paint job very very good, but not concours. The Chrome is excellent. All in all this is a very rare example of a 1990 300D. I added all my costs up and I have a little over $11,000 in ther car. I will not sell it for lesss than $10,000 so don't contact me unless you are willing to pay that amount. I will take pictures and have them available to those that are interested. The car is located just South of Tucson.
