comand unit dead

can anybody help me i have a w211 e class and my comand unit has died.i have checked powers to it.if anybody has one to sell would be interesred in.does any one repair these?seen them on ebay but all from overseas.any help pls::

If you are certain that yours is gone for good, I would investigate the cost of sending it back to the manufacturer (it used to be Bosch and it still might) and trading it for a factory re-built unit. I had mine replaced under CPO warranty recently and the parts guy said mine would have cost $4000 new.

i think unit is at fault so req either knowing somebody who repairs them or has anybody got a comand to fit w211.i have seen comands on ebay which only have 2 plugs (power/optics)and small can plug.my unit has 4 plugs but i don,t have tv tuner or rear screen fitted,will this comand with the 2 plugs still work even with wrong part number would i have to take it to mercs to be plugged in?

How old is the car - must 5 years or less for W211? Have you checked your warranty? It may be longer than the overall warranty for expensive components like this.

Otherwise, it may be worthwhile contacting MB either yourself or through a dealer. They sometimes will offer a break on expensive items like this, just based on goodwill. A friend of mine had the "computer" on his '99 C230 fail and MB provided a NEW replacement for about 1/2 price - cost him under C$2k installed.
