FS - 1958 Mercedes 219 must sell

I'm helping a friend sell a 1958 Mercedes 219 that he inherited a couple years ago. The car runs and drives. It is a great candidate for restoration.

There may be a vaccuum problem with the transmission, it doesn't want to shift be will drive.

The car was stored (inside) since the mid-1970s waiting to be restored, but the restoration was never started.

The owner wants the car gone to make room in his garage. It is located in Bismarck, N.D.

Feel free to ask any questions, while neither the owner or I have much Mercedes experience, we will try to answer your questions.

I have several photos available, they are posted on another site.

Thanks for looking!

It doesn't have any obvious rust outside of normal surface patches. We haven't scoured it up and down, but it seems clean. This car was stored since the early 70's, then hauled on a flatbed to it current location. Suprisingly, it fired up easily.

After looking up what a Hydrak clutch is, I believe that is what it is equipped with. The car will drive fine in whatever gear it is put in, but won't shift once on the road.

The interior condition seems good, except the headliner is missing. Everything else is in good condition. No sunroof.

I have very little experience with Mercedes, but this car is obviously built like a tank.

Here is a link to more photos, I didn't post it originally because the moderator says he will delete any links to outside sites. I can get photographs of particular parts on request.

Mercedes

$200 is too low, but I think this guy is a motivated seller. What is it worth?

Jason.

More information

I talked again with the owner. After some research in the "Old Car Price Guide" he determined the value to be between $2,280 and $3,800, but he is open to offers. His name is Paul and his phone number is 701-224-8251.
