Well ladies and gents my first shot a refinishing some rims and I have to say I am really impressed with the results. Back 3 years ago I paid a guy to do my 15" amgs... let me tell you it was the biggest waste of $800 he screwed them up the first time and the paint wouldn't dry two other times he ended up repainting them 4 times. They never where any good after that paint was soft you could scratch it with your finger nail.
I was formerly Andrew C280 sport on many other benz sites... mbfanatics. club202, bnzsport.
Anyways more about these rims... I will explain a bit how I fixed them... got some fine sand paper fixed all the light scratching in the paint. For the deeper marks I used special body filler and then special primer that fills in all the sratches from sanding and minor inperfections, then I used light silver metalic to paint... two coats. Once it was all dry and looking great I used a ceramic clear coat again two coats. This repair should be really durable and you can hardly tell anything has been done to the rims. The metalic is a bit bigger then mercedes metalic.
These 16" by 7" came off my 2004 C230K they are in new shape even though they are used. My Friend in the tire business is going to throw in some brand new rubber, I dont know what kind.
Dress up a car with steelies... old scratched up rims.

these rims will bolt on, I was looking on the internet its suggesting that the 1996 sl500 et was between 32 34. there is a 2 mill difference. so they might work you would have to check the clearence on some parts. my old W202 came with et37 and i put on rims that where et34 everything cleared. this setup would be the opposite meaning that the rims instead of coming closer to the center of the car would be 3mm out farther...
