Looking to buy first Mercedes - Benzworld.org

Any help would be appriciated. I've driven a 190E (1989) and really liked it. I have heard so much about earlier Mercedes being better than the later 90's.
Any good info on advise what to look for besides the typical maintence records and a well maintained car.
I found a very cheap (2600??)190 1989 that the paint had faded and a few otheer things but wanted to wait and find a nicer one.
I like the smaller size as opposed to my brothers reccomendation of the C class 280.

190's are absolutely amazing, I love mine. I admit I was iffy about it at first, but now I'm never going to get rid of it, just by doing simple maintenance its an amazing car.

take a w124 for a test drive. 300E 1990-1993 Should be in your price range. You wont look back. Check out the w124 forum.

Is there a difference in Mercedes made for Europe and ones made for the States?
The 1989 !90E I'm looking at had no prior records from the first 0-60 miles, then it shos up in New York. i was assuming it was a car brought over to the statesbut i could be wrong. anybody know some info?

Take a look at mine. It needs about $500 of work. If I do it myself, I would sell this car for quite a bit more.
