SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT- These guys are crooks, most have meager mental capacity for doing anything but taking the time to come up with something clever, and as we all know-rats can be clever.
My wife is in banking (I know, not a good thing to admit in these times, she is only a customer service rep though), anyway she has a co-worker who follows the credo of "Just don't engage with crazy people", I think this applies to crooks as well. Though I find it very entertaining that some of us take the time to waste their time, be carefull. Some vindictive crook can send you a virus via email etc.
My practice is to just delete any questionable emails period. If it is a Craig's list ad and they ask something like "Still available"? or any other version of that without refering directly to the specific item, they most likely are phishing for email accounts to set you up for junk mail or other scams. Better safe than sorry!
BTW. Wear clean undies in case you get in an accident, or hook up with a super model! HA

A story:I live abroad, I purchased throught ebay a 1976 Mercedes 6.9, the price including transport to FL. came to about $4300.00 which I wired to the seller's account in N.J.,the seller had 100% feedback at the time of purchase;well the car never arrived.Naturally I filed a complaint which was resolved in my favor once I proved I had paid etc.I was reimborsed $200.00 minus $25 for handling by ebay!!Reason:My ebay account is located outside the good old USA.So I filed a complain with N.J. DA, sent detective all pertinent info.;this gentleman was known to the police according to the detective.I also was informed that I would have to appear(meaning fly in from abroad $$) in court myself if this so-called dealer contested the case, and in any event if he didn't have any money I wouldn't be able to collect.I also checked with private attorneys, same story also the amount involved was not considered large enough by attorneys to be worthwhile to pursue. This guy is still in business happily selling cars at ebay, his name is Paul Brennan and works as brennanautobroker.
kmukherjee I was offered a Bosch fuel regulator by this guy for $75 and 7 weeks later and four request later for the tracking number I have had to resort to making a claim with PayPal. Seems he is 'parting' several cars, I wonder how many other mugs have been suckered?
kmukherjee should be shunned, I have now recieved a full refund from PayPal for the item he didn't send. I would advise ALL of you to pay via Paypal ONLY, it is the only safe way to avoid being ripped off. Kmukherjee you are a scumbag! and shoud be struck off of this forum!

What I don't understand is how the police or DA's can file charges against you or put you in jail for accepting a check that you had every reason to believe was real. You deposit it in your bank and wait for it to clear. It does clear but 6 weeks later the bank calls and says...sorry, it wasn't a real check after all? Then you're up *hit creek?
I've done dozens of transactions on eBay using paypal for the most part, or postal money orders and have never, never had a problem. Guess I'm just lucky. My wife did sell her Cartier watch to someone in England who specifically requested some type of air parcel for delivery...the type with no tracking information, said since she lived in a rural area it came to her faster...and the wife did it. Right away this lady started claiming the watch never arrived. It took her months to work it out with Paypal. Disgusting.
Back to the cashiers checks, I just don't understand where the bank's responsibility is. Seriously, how can a solid citizen get jail time for doing everything right? Just for my peace of mind I'd like to know.
There ya go! ONLY use Paypal and ONLY send by reg post with a tracking number, Ebay don't specify that for fun, Never taker a cheque or Western Union. I got my $75 back in a fortnight via Paypal.
PayPal only can recover money if the money is in the account ,scammers usually don't wait that long.
Here is a link with the experience I have made with Paypal and a guy who tried to scam me. http://www.benzworld.org/forums/sale...-500-00-a.html

As long as PayPal have a seller's credit card details, as required to have an account, they can charge it back to the seller's card. I have had three pay backs for none deilivery and always in a few days having followed the procedure, Always start a 'dispute' as soon as you suspect something is wrong and give the seller just 4 days, no more, to come up with the tracking number or a refund, after those 4 days enter a claim, no messing about or being Mr. nice guy, you will get screwed! Never allow a seller to "send a replacement" or a "refund", it will not arrive and you will find yourself out of time for a claim, ALWAYS keep within deadlines and never ber distracted with promises of replacement or refund, trust no one. Always have goods sent with a tracking number, accept no excuses, ( been sick, at a wedding, on holiday, lost the reciept, didn't get a reciept, etc etc) there are none, and if the seller cannot supply the tracking number then chances are they haven't even been near a post office, UPS, etc.
And as we all know, never do business with anyone south of Gibraltar.
I recieved a email stating they wanted to buy my item and they would send payment thru paypal, BEWARE, the emails look official but keep in mind paypal will NOT hold funds from the buyer only the seller to protect the buyer in some cases, so if you dont see the amount ready to spend in your paypal account DO NOT SHIP IT... Also they will ask to ship via FEDEX, no dice ship UPS they actually track and insure packages. just wanted to let everyone know. And of course if thay want you to ship overseas, INSTANT RED FLAG.
