SLS

SLS ordered, delivery 2010. I can't see the new SL replacement being based too closely on this, as they have already said it will be all aluminium - SLS is carbon fibre.
Plus, it would need major reworking to make it convertible, what would they do with the doors?
Probably will only take a design lead from this, even the chassis would be no good.
Look at the SLS dedicated website:-

Um - maybe I am missing something here, but how does this 'autospy' joker think the doors will operate on a 'convertible' SLS? are they going to magically sit there? I do not even think MB are that clever! Some reporters really are idiots.

If he is asking, will the next SL look like the old SL190, then possibly, but I hope not.

A convertible SLS is an inevitable successor to the coupe. Very much like the original 1950's 300SL gullwing (followed by a roadster version in 57 I think), the new gullwing will be followed by a roadster around 2012. I read an article where supposedly MB is also releasing an all electric version as well as a Black Series to close up the production.

I would think the doors would open like any other car in the roadster. The chasis would not need redesigned but rather reinforced....I'm sure AMG designers will come up with a solution

SLS Roadster spy photos show that the door will not be gullwing. It will open like regular cars:
