looking at the back panal under the roll bar, seems to have a grille that rear speakers could be mounted in.. has anyone investigated this possibility ? maybe for surround sound ?
upon further investigation..there are speakers in the rear grille...they are for the surround sound effect.....the volume of these speakers is very low, my question now, is there anyway to increase the volume of these speakers.(2006 SL500)
I went to an audio shop in northern VA that specializes in custom enclosures and fiberglass. They too recommended that I replace the speakers with FOCAL (retail $1200/pair). They said I would only need one pair though. They said that they would leave all the other speakers alone (out of the system). They also recommended that I get "staging" unit for the best sound ($550 installed). And for bass, a custom fiberglass enclosure housing either 2-8" JL subs or 1-13" JL thin sub (this would be installed behing the seats making the little cubbies unusable). The box alone would cost $1800 but would match the interior leather of my car (matched stitching +$400). The total cost for amps, wiring, speakers, etc amount to ~$4400. Hehehe... That's a sad laugh because my friend's G37 has much better stock sound. My wife's X5 has much better sound. Still contemplating if it's all really worth it.
