Looking to get an 203-2005-ish SL500 Questions !

OKay, complete SL Newbie here ... forgive me if I ask obvious questions.

okay, first of - I did review about a dozen pages of post before asking these questions!

I have some questions about the options and certain things I would like.

1.)
What do the PANO-ROOF owners think of it ? Worthwhile option beide the "coolness" factor" ? Or an everyday glare problem from the sun ?!

2.) I have heard the term keyless-go. This was never an option my my R170 SLK serie, so I don't know too much about it!

I read that 2003-2004 KEYLESS GO Models you have to have a CARD for the EYLES GO to work. ( ... That apparently some sellers "loose" duing the selling process ?!). In 2005 it was built into the KEY. Okay, I got that - but .. was KEYLESS GO an OPTION, built into another OPTION PACKAGE or what ? I think I DO really want this option ? Again, have the novelty of this worn of to the KEYLESS GO folks out there ?


3.) Designo Editions, and other Special Editions (Silver Arrow, Etc). What makes these special on the SL's ?

4.) AMG / "Sport Package". Is there only one COSMETIC ONLY option? Or is there one STYLE package, and one that include lowering, or better suspension, etc ?


5.) I saw an SL500 recently that had the CHROME surrounds on the foglihts - what year did that start ?!

6.) Anybody know of a website that "details" model year changes, Color combinations available, and the different options packages for the SL's ?

7.) What year / what option package include the ability to lower your top from the remote control ? I think I want this as well!


8.) FITTED LUGGAGE SET - how much was this option I saw an SL at he dealer with thi option and it lookd reall neat!

9.) I think I want the Bi Xenon Lamps. How many headlight options were there ? Was there a package that includes the HEADLAMP WASHERS? o is hat standard?

10.) How about heated seats - STANDARD or OPTION ?

Is the COMMAND system only included with the NAVIGATION OPTION ?

What other cool options have you on your car that are MUST HAVES, an which ones don't you use ?

don't have the answers to everything, but the pano roof i think is just better looking than the regular one... no problems with glare or anything like that.
never used the keyless go and i'm pretty sure seats come standard with heat and ac.
as for the rest, it might be a good idea to go to the dealer and ask the guys there all questions relating to price, etc...

1) I have the pano roof on my car and would not do without it. No glare problems and not a real weight adder. The pano weighs 17 pounds more than the non pano.
2)I also have the keyless go and would not want to live without it. It eliminates the key at ignition but also eliminates the key fob when you enter or lock the car from the outside.
3)The Designo packages have special paint colors and the interiors are truly upgraded. I do not have this on my SL but my wife's S550 is Designo and the interior is much nicer than the non Designo. The package is expensive however.
4)The only appearance package is the AMG sport package and it is merely cosmetic---no suspension changes.
5)The chrome surround on the foglights started in the 2007 model year.

7)None this is an aftermarket add on.
8)It is approximately $495
9)the Bi Xenon lights were the only option and that includes the washers.
10)Heated seats are standard but the ventilated seats are optional.

Yes the command is included with the navigation option and is a must have option.

this is incorrect... you can lower the top by pressing and holding keyfob unlock button on any r230. Of course you have to point the key towards the infared sensor on door handle.

likewise you can close the top by holding lock.
