i know what you mean hawkdl2, its all rather confusing. i spent 3 days going over this stuff and at first i didnt like the diamler/chrysler contracts but after comparing the written contract, the price, and customer feedback/complaints this seems the best bet.
but im still open to good suggestions as i have not pulled the trigger yet since i have 12 months left on my factory warranty.
another good feature about the diam/chr warr, you can extend it again after the initial period is up!

Has anyone heard of JM and A. Talking to another MB dealer and that is what they offer.
I purchased an extended warranty on a VW Touareg, a VW warranty and it is underwritten by JM and A. The VW service writer told me that they are an excellent company to do business with. Any comments on this company?
I don't know about their reputation, but they are definitely inclusionary policies and I get very nervous when they have short lists of included parts and it's comprised of such things as "start motor housing and all internal components" then items like "field windings". Those types of detailed lists make me wonder if external connectors, wiring, brackets, etc are covered. Maybe not important, but I've had a policy almost identical to this before for a Jeep and while it saved me major expense (it was a Jeep after all) I usually ended up with several $100 of "not specifically called out on the policy" components at each repair.
I'm also wary of "sold only through dealers". That means to me high mark ups and having to haggle. The DC policy does seem to carry with it a good reputation and a fair price. It's not clearly the exclusionary policy the seller says it is (IMO), but I'm not sure how much more I would be willing to pay for the extra piece of mind. I've got 4 weeks to decide, but I'm currently leaning towards the DC policy.
I talked to a AAA member rep. today on an extended warranty, 4yr, 100K full bumper to bumper exclusionary warranty, $3K, 0 deductible. I am waiting to get a copy of it to review it. Anyone else consult AAA?
Any advice on Extended Warranty, I am buying a 4,000 km car and they are offering a 6 year 120,000 warranty, They want $1,600.00 to extend that to 160,000. Is it worth it?, I think it only covers drivetrain. Any advice on what you might do. I am buying the R-Class.
This is a good thread. My '03 R230 is out of warranty so I am looking to purchase an extened warranty...looks like so far the DC exclusionary policy is a front runner....anything else? Keeping an eye on this thread to check out some of the advise from all you knowledgable folks (I'm new to Benz, my SL500 is my first)...
Glad I found this thread, althought not the same model, I am hoping for some suggestion and maybe some clarification. I have a 2004 CLK-320 in great condition, only 32K miles. The service start date was 2-28-2004, which means it is out of warranty, even though the mileage is way under. Looked at diamler/chrysler, but the website asked if it was with the 4 years of the service date "and" under 48,000 and if it is not, its not eligible. So, I guess DC is out. Any suggestions on where else to look?? I am in Houston, Tx and I live near my office and can work from home, so I put less than 10K on my car a year. Want peace of mind and good coverage. Any suggestion would be greatly apprecaited.
This is a real difficult topic. I had a used MB dealer reccomend the warranty co. they used and said they were the best and after a short google research found they were shut down by the State of Florida, they were being sued and left a few thousand policy owner's stranded. I wish MB would offer extended warranties to 2nd and 3rd owner's after the factory expired. I would pay for it.
