According to eMercedesBenz, they are either testing is a new variant of the current SL (obviously the SL63 AMG comes to mind), and with the new engine, so to comes a styling revision to coincide with the rest of Mercedes' current model range. Secondly, it's possible the SL in question is simply being used to test various components of the next generation SL, much like components of the new C-Class were first tested in the previous-generation C-Class' frame.
To read the whole story from the, the link is below
1) If it's like the new C Class and this is a current generation mule with next generation parts, why are the front and back ends covered up?
A quick search I just did didn't bring up any photos of an old C Class frame with the latest generation parts. When they did that did Mercedes cover up the C Class's front and back, like they have here on this SL?
2) If it's a new SL63 AMG and assuming any styling upgrade is a MAJOR one (ie along the lines of the new CL) has Mercedes ever signigfcantly changed the look of the top of the line model, without the other models?
I really hope its just a minor styling upgrade for the SL63 AMG, but the covers concern me! What do others think?
Besides the bigger front airdam (as the 07 Jaguar xkr) and the rear lower valance I can't see much difference from this years model. Am I missing something?
