Rounding 1000 miles and getting excited about getting the car out of comfort mode and into standard mode to stretch her feet.
Not going to happen just yet.
The #1 and #7 pistons are misfiring so the car basically can not be driven.
She is at the Dealer hospital and they are thinking it is a fuel source problem. The #1 and #7 chambers are opposite each other at the front of the engine and the fuel is delivered at the rear.
More to come tomorrow on her condition but I find it rather dissappointing.
I guess you have to pay more for a car if you want it to work past 1000 miles.

MBUSA may call you for being in the shop alot of the first 12 months. I got a call last week because my car was flag in the system for being in the shop to much.
The MBUSA lady did not care about my problems, but she just wanted to know if my car is still running.[?][?]
Finally diagnosed. It is a fuel pressure problem. It needs a new upgraded fuel pump, module and filter screen which increases the pressure to get more fuel to the front of the engine.
As would be usual for MB, the fuel pump has to come from Germany.
Now, let's see. My car is only 35 days old as it just arrived from Germany on 12/31. How is it possible I don't have the latest and greatest fuel pump?

Lovin,
My '04 SL500 didn't have the latest ABC suspension pump. Before I took delivery of my car, the part had already been replaced by the factory with an updated version after a defect was discovered that caused a ticking/clicking kinda noise (and maybe other problems as well). Sure enough, my SL developed the noise and the dealer fixed it with the updated part which, of course, had to be shipped from Germany and took about four days or so to get here. I think there is still a problem with my ABC because the left front drops about an inch or so after the vehicle sits for a few days.
IMO, Mercs are (probably just like a lot of other new vehicles) "over-engineered". Too many bells and whistles just means more chance of something to go wrong. I've had a few other thing go wrong, also.
Maybe these kinds of problems could be prevented if Merc would implement better Quality Control at the factory level.
Don't get me wrong, I *love* my SL. I just wish there weren't any bugs to work out.

As soon as I read your post, I called my dealership and told them about this. Of course, they said, they never heard anything about this.
Now, since I am one of their "valued" customer, I asked them to do a research if the Fuel pump and filter is the same as in the SL600 or since AMG tuned it, they changed the fuel pump and filter already. STAY TUNED
