Well, my warranty is about to expire so thought it was high time I carried out a mod or two. Number one on the list is the remote roof gizmo! I've seen the Piecha ones but not heard anything about the units on here for quite a while so thought i had better ask the experts. Perhaps after installing and living with the unit you've found yourself thinking you should have bougt another version?? Anyway...
1). Which one would you go for?
2). Where would you recommend I pick one up from?
3). Can any of you chaps help me fit it (i'm based in Leicester but can travel)?? Quite willing to pay for your time btw!!
there are i believe 2 roof modules. one by mods-4-cars (also sold by piecha i believe) and one by reinhold (spelling?) someone correct me if i am wrong
as far as installing it, it really is not that hard. search this forum or download the installation manual from mods-4 cars website). there is only one hard step and that is removing the canbus cover but after 3 modules, i am an expert!
others will chime in shortly.

+1 on the mods-4-cars module - not horribly important to you, but they've updated the module to support the '09s, and provide quality support. Install is literally 15 minutes if you know the tricks to getting the canbus cover open. I'm in London - my SLK is LHD, so the install is a bit different, but I'd be more than willing to help for a pint or two..
Hi Noman, I've had the Reinhold module for a couple of months but not installed it yet.
My only attempt so far was aborted when I found so little space to get the carpet back as the accelerator pedal is in the way on our RHD cars.
I would also appreciate any advice on making this particular part easier.
I installed mine(Piecha) on a RHD car, and found it much easier to remove the accelerator pedal first. Its not that hard to remove it, just pry off the cap(under the part you depress), then just undo the nut. The pedal comes straight off, and makes the install that much easier.

Thanks for that advice. I had thought that would make the installation a lot easier, but I'm glad to hear from someone who has got it off and back on again. Thanks again - I'll have another go!
Yup, thanks for that link Eddy..that was the guide I followed when I installed mine as well, and its quite well documented in there. Kinda hard to explain how to get the CANBUS cover open but give it a shot and see how you go.
Anyway, excellent advice guys. Have read through the RHD install a couple of times now but to tell you the trusth still lacking a little courage in taking my car apart! Hmmm. Will look at ordering the mods-4-cars one but will see if anyone of the UK resellers have them in stock. Not keen on ordering from the US - could get stung with the tax!
