BEST trickle charger / conditioner for R171?

Guys,

I'm thinking of buying a charger/conditioner for the beast - what do you reckon are the better ones on the market to consider?

i have seen a post with a genuine mb unit but can't locate a supplier / price in the uk.

i've seen a few including optimate, airflow, and CTEK.

what do you think i should be looking for to decide which to settle on?

i installed the mb charger on my wifes slk 55 and it is the same as the CTEK. i put it in the battery box because it is weather proof. works well

thanks matey .. i have now ordered the CTEK 3600 which should arrive tomorrow (Wed 16/07). Have you fitted the complete unit under the battery box or just the wiring leading to the actual unit?
Also how much was the genuine MB unit - I've paid £50 (UK) inc delivery for the CTEK.

it was about a year ago and i don't recall what i payed here in canada but yes the charger fit in under the cover and there was a spare gromet to pass the wire through the battery box. i attached it with some velcro. works well.

Not sure about the "conditioner" part. I took a quick look at the CTEK and it appears to be similar to other trickle chargers on the market. I've got a Battery Tender Plus charger and it resembles the look/features of the MB and CTEK. Had it hooked up for about six months this past year and it worked like a charm.

It's basically a device that keeps the battery topped up - a must for those of us who don't get to drive the car every day, or put them into storage for the winter months.
