I am the happy owner of a 2005 SLK 200k. The only thing that concerns me is the poor performance (cooling) from the AC.
Anyone with similiar experience ? And good advice on how to overcome the "problem" ?
Well sorry to tell you this but my 07 SLK55 has the best by far AC I have ever had in any vehicle including my diesel pickups. Drove a couple hundred miles Saturday and my black vehicle at 104 outside with outside air not recirc was blowing out 35 degree air!
Get the ac checked -- could not survive here with a marginal ac--good luck!
Sounds like you have a faulty Aircon. Mine has been back about 5 times (In fact it wasn't working when I bought the car!).
First time they refilled it with gas; that lasted about 4 months then they reckoned they found a leak and refilled again.
Next they replaced one of the main parts as it was making a very wierd noise but by the time the car was back to me it wasn't blowing cold air....they found another leak and refilled and touch wood works well now!
It should blow icy cold if you wish it to, anything else and you have a problem!
I hope you do not have anything real serious with your AC. I also had no problems with my AC it was real cold till my electric radiator fan stopped working it was during the cooler days of the year and really did not noticed till my temperature in my radiator started going uIt only happened when I drove in city driving. The AC did not blow as cold. I have replaced my electric fan and no more problems.
So check and see that the electric fan is working. All you have to do is pop your hood up and start your car turn the ACon. If your fan does not come on in a few minnutes and the temperatures goes up. Turn off your car and get your fan check out.
Hey everyone, My AC runs just fine, really cold, even in these hot 100 degree days. My questions though is when I turn the AC on, the fan gets really loud, sounds like a freakin jet engine, doesn't matter what setting the AC is on in terms of speed. Just wondering if yalls do the same thing or if it is something I should check out??
I know that the fan probably has to work really hard, since it is so hot out, but I have never heard a fan spin that fast due to the AC. Thanks for the input!

This has been discussed many times before. The fan noise is normal.
My current 09 does it and my prior 06 did it.
