Does any body know what the part A171 007 0099 OWA PE is for? I found it on the floor of my garage underneath my 2005 SLK350. It is made of black expanded polystyrene (or similar) and is roughly a one-quarter section of a sphere baseball or cricket ball size globe.

The description is a bit cryptic... but if it's like a large black coin with a hexagonal hole in the middle, then it could be the piece which is used to remove the antenna.

Took it to my local merc dealer today. A lot of head scratching but apparently it is a plug underneath the car to stop the washer bottle tube from chafing. They fixed it for free - is this a first? Thanks for your interest - I would have photographed it but my digital camera is in for repair.
